Alan Brazil can’t believe what he's heard about David Moyes at Everton - ‘I’m sorry’
David Moyes' future at Everton is uncertain heading into the new season.
The boss is under contract until summer 2027, and there has been no confirmed agreement over a new deal.
Some portions of the Hill Dickinson Stadium fanbase want to see him depart the dugout.
They feel that view is justified after the 13th-placed finish last season in the Premier League.
However, the league table does not tell the full story as the Blues were only four points off Europe.
Now, Alan Brazil has had his say on the 63-year-old's future with the Merseysiders.
What did Alan Brazil say about David Moyes?
Brazil has defended Moyes after what he has recently heard about the Blues boss.
The former Scotland international was stunned by the fact that some Toffees supporters want the manager out after hearing one call up the radio station.
Speaking on talkSPORT on Wednesday morning (07:44am), he said: “On White and Jordan, an Everton fan called in and called for Everton to sack David Moyes.
“I don’t get it, I’m sorry.
“Everywhere David goes, he does a good job. What do they expect?”
It is safe to say that he is not having calls for his fellow Scotsman to be dismissed.
Whether that view is justified or not probably depends on which side of the argument that you are on.
Is Moyes under internal pressure at Everton?
All the signs from inside the club suggest the Moyes is not under pressure yet, and they are backing him going into the campaign.
Angus Kinnear, the CEO of the club, confirmed that the focus this summer was on getting the squad in the right position, rather than the boss' status.
Speaking with BBC Radio Merseyside, he said: “The whole focus of this summer has been, and it has been at David’s request, about getting the squad in the right place for the start of the season so we haven’t discussed a new contract."
However, his contract expires at the end of the upcoming campaign, so there will be question marks until that is sorted out, one way or the other.
The aim became a European football place last season, but they did not have the depth in the squad to achieve that ambition.
Hopefully, this time around they can manage it, and Moyes and his players can celebrate at the end of the campaign as he earns fresh terms.
That likely depends on performances on the pitch. It is vital that there are signs of progress and the Toffees do not stagnate or go backwards in the table.
He needs to get the best out of the likes of Thierno Barry and Merlin Rohl if he is to do that.
