David Moyes' contract situation is still unresolved at Everton.

The 63-year-old has turned the Blues around since replacing Sean Dyche in the dugout in January 2025.

He has guided the Toffees away from the relegation zone to a mid-table club, and is hoping to take them in Europe eventually.

Everton had reportedly agreed a new contract with Moyes in March, but there has no official confirmation on his future.

His current deal is a two-and-a-half-year contract, which is set to expire at the end of the 2026-27 season.

The Scotsman's feelings on the matter and whether he will earn a new one have now been revealed.

What does David Moyes feel about new Everton contract?

Moyes is understood to not be concerning himself with the situation at the moment.

BBC journalist Giulia Bould claimed on Friday that he is "relaxed" about his contract and the lack of progress.

She believes an extension could be on the cards if the Blues start the season well.

In a column, she wrote: “The manager has made clear it isn’t a concern for him. Nothing has been confirmed from Everton’s side in terms of an extension, but CEO Angus Kinnear made clear at the end of the season that stability is key to continued progress, and Moyes’ experience provides that.

"It is my understanding the manager is relaxed about the situation.

“Kinnear’s programme notes were a direct counter to some suggestions the manager may be replaced at the end of the campaign.

“Recruitment-wise, it was always seen as a two-window approach. Kinnear added: “Our job in the coming weeks and months is to continue with what we always knew would be a two-summer window plan, and ensure the squad has enough depth to mount an even more compelling challenge next term.

“The manager’s contract would always have worked in that timeframe. I could see an extension for Moyes, especially if 2026-27 starts well.”

Why the Friedkin Group have made the right decision

Some may be questioning the Friedkin Group's direction with the manager's status being in doubt.

However, it is the right approach, as they need to see if Moyes is the right man to lead the club long-term.

Of course he provides stability, and with the right additions he could take them to their ambitions, like we saw at West Ham with the UEFA Conference League title.

However, there may be better, more exciting managers on the market if they wait to make a decision and rushing in to give Moyes fresh terms would have restricted them.

That may well be why they have not locked the veteran boss down yet, they may want to see how it shakes out with even more new signings under his belt first.

Moyes has been solid but not spectacular since returning to Merseyside, with some supporters wanting more from the side, and if he does not start well then there could be pressure on his shoulder.

Whether replacing him would be the right call, will only be seen once it is made, if that is what the American businessmen go for in the end.
