Everton: David Moyes to Scotland question answered already as exit news confirmed
Everton boss David Moyes has already inevitably been touted as an option for the newly vacant Scotland job.
The Tartan Army have been dumped out of the World Cup in the group stage after other results didn't go their way.
Their chances were always slim after a 3-0 defeat to Brazil as other third place sides looked set to take a place in the round of 32.
That is exactly how things panned out and the Scots are now ready for a homecoming earlier than they would have hoped.
Steve Clarke has since taken the decision to resign as Scotland boss, despite only penning a new deal before the tournament.
That has seen Moyes enter the frame as a potential replacement, as Everton get a stark early answer on a potential move.
Tony Cascarino adamant over David Moyes and Scotland
The news of the 62-year-old's departure certainly came as a surprise and will continue to shock fans as they wake up on Sunday morning.
He has come under massive amounts of scrutiny for the way his side performed as individual errors cost them dearly.
Clarke has seemingly reached the end of his tether and has opted to jump ship.
That leaves the door open for a new appointment, something which has prompted many Scotland fans to call for Moyes' introduction.
The Everton man is arguably the best Scottish manager out there right now and could be targeted by the Tartan Army.
But former Celtic man Tony Cascarino has rubbished any link to Moyes in a blunt message live on talkSPORT on Sunday.
Asked if the Toffees boss could move to Hampden, he said: "No chance. Absolutely no chance [Moyes joins Scotland]. It might happen down the line, but he's not going to do it now."
What has Moyes said about managing Scotland?
The Premier League season may have ended in frustrating fashion, but the 63-year-old is arguably the best thing to happen to the Blues for years.
He has dragged them from constantly being relegation threatened to a side that probably should have qualified for Europe.
Cascarino may be staunch on his thoughts that the Everton boss won't now join Scotland, but Moyes has previously voiced his desire to do exactly that.
In quotes reported by BBC Sport in 2021, he said: "Yeah, I do now [have ambitions to manage Scotland].
"I'm getting now to a stage in my career where I really enjoy club management and feel I have unfinished business to do yet.
"But I think at the right time, when things are right for me and if it's right for Scotland, then it might be a consideration."
There will be now a question looming of whether Moyes will consider a move to Scotland now with a home Euros just two years away.
