Alan Shearer was stunned by Abdul Fatawu's work rate in Ghana's draw with England, with Everton said to be keen on a deal.

Amid links to Raoul Bellanova, it's clear that the number one priority for the Toffees this summer is likely to be a new right-back.

Though David Moyes will also have his sights set on improving other areas of the squad, with the addition of another wide player on the agenda.

Fatawu is one of those to be linked with a move to Hill Dickinson, having suffered relegation to League One with Leicester City last term.

The Ghanaian registered 16 goal involvements for the Foxes in the Championship, ultimately earning him a call-up to his national squad.

And the Leicester star was a second-half substitute in the goalless draw with England on Tuesday, with one moment of his game impressing Shearer.

What did Abdul Fatawu do to impress Alan Shearer?

It was very much a backs-to-the-wall display from Ghana against England, albeit one that worked a treat with the Black Stars earning a point.

Thomas Tuchel's side dominated the game in terms of possession, but failed to create anything of note aside from one chance for Harry Kane which was blazed over the bar.

It wasn't until the final 10 minutes that they somewhat turned up the heat, and with Fatawu on the pitch, he had to showcase his abilities defensively, and did so to good effect.

In the 84th minute of the game, Fatawu was first to the ball in his own half, before beating one man on the touchline and then earning his side a free kick to alleviate the pressure.

And Shearer was impressed. Via BBC's coverage of the game, he said: "Brilliant, Fatawu. Absolutely superb. Close control, quick feet. Drawn the tackle in and gets his team off the hook."

What is the latest on Everton's interest in Fatawu?

Admittedly, links connecting him with a move have quietened down in recent weeks, though his inclusion at the World Cup is likely to be a big reason for that.

Speaking to Goodison News earlier this summer, Bryan King suggested that the Toffees would have taken a look at him.

Others have also reported the interest, with several other Premier League clubs mooted.

It's almost certain that he will depart Leicester summer, but as for where he goes, that remains to be seen.
