Dan Friedkin says yes to Roma signing worth more than any transfer at Everton so far

The Friedkin Group have split opinion at Everton in their reign so far.

Of course, everybody can agree that things are much better under the Americans than it was under Farhad Moshiri.

Clearing that debt and moving forward from all of that PSR trouble was always the first goal after taking over.

But, there comes a point where ambition has to take over and Everton lacked that severely last season.

With European football in their hands under David Moyes, only Tyrique George was signed on loan in January.

Money has been spent on George, Hayden Hackney and Merlin Rohl already this summer, but the Friedkin's business in Italy will have fans far from happy.

Roma are splashing the cash under Friedkin Group

Goodison News has covered the possible future clashes betwen Everton and Roma if both qualify for Europe.

That hasn't happened yet, and with fewer financial regulations in Italian football, their spending is only going one way.

Donyell Malen and Daniele Ghilardi have already signed, and West Ham's Crysencio Summerville could be next.

La Gazzetta Dello Sport has even reported in its print edition on Tuesday that Friedkin himself has said yes to the deal.

The Italian newspaper states that a deal just above £42million could be agreed, with a third offer sent.

That won't exactly please Everton fans.

What have Everton and Roma spent so far?

There is always a conflict of interest when owning more than one club, and it could leave certain fans very unhappy.

Should Roma sign Summerville for the suggested fee, it would take their summer spending so far to £70m, via transfermarkt.

Compare that to Everton, who have spent just above £55m.

While that figure may sound positive, most of it is on two players that were already at the Hill Dickinson Stadium last season, and they didn't even make that much of an impact.

Of course, regulations are stricter in England, but when Friedkin is sanctioning deals worth almost his entire spend at Everton for Roma, it won't go down well.

There is still plenty of time left in the summer transfer window, and it's over to the Friedkins to make sure they spend a lot more than they have done at Everton.
