David Moyes' Everton assessment backed as Tim Iroegbunam becomes top transfer target
David Moyes could lose Tim Iroegbunam at Everton this transfer window.
The English midfielder is attracting interest from Galatasaray this summer as they look to bolster their engine room.
With the 23-year-old's contract entering its final year, the prospect of signing him is even more "attractive" for the Super Lig giants.
Moyes has preferred other midfielders to Iroegbunam at Hill Dickinson Stadium and he's now a top target for Galatasaray.
The former Aston Villa star was behind Idrissa Gueye and James Garner in the pecking order during the 2025-26 campaign.
Hayden Hackney has now completed a move to Hill Dickinson Stadium from Middlesbrough and it remains to be seen how the Scottish manager's engine room will shape up by the end of the window.
Galatasaray take notes from David Moyes over Tim Iroebunam
Galatasaray are looking to add more youth to their side and see Irogbunam as the perfect candidate to reinforce the midfield.
According to Takvim on 7 July, it's the Englishman's resilience in the middle of the park that captivates the Turkish club.
The midfielder stands out for his ball-winning ability, pressing and stamina in winning duels, which is seen as the Super Lig side's main focus in their pursuit.
Moyes has already previously acknowledged the strengths of Iroegbunam's game and that certainly lines up with Galatasaray's thinking.
Speaking to the media before the Nottingham Forest game on 30 December, the Scottish manager said, "There are parts of [Iroegbunam's] game that are very good, like his recovery and getting back to win things back have been excellent."
Tim Iroegbunam's time at Everton assessed
Iroegbunam might be hoping for guaranteed minutes away from Everton after serving as a backup over the last two seasons.
The midfielder started 17 Premier League games for the Toffees this season, while starting only five in the 2024-25 campaign, and he clearly isn't Moyes' first choice.
While the Hill Dickinson Stadium faithful acknowledge the youngster's potential, there are other options fans would rather see in the starting lineup over him.
If Gueye signs a new contract with the Blues and Harrison Armstrong and Charly Alcaraz stay at the Merseyside outfit, Iroegbunam could be seen as surplus to requirements.
