David Moyes has made his feelings known about where Everton as a football club can go next season.

The Toffees fell at the final few hurdles in their quest to return to European football in 2025-2026.

Ahead of next season, the Everton manager will want to go that one step closer to achieving that dream after finishing in 13th place.

Now, Moyes has laid down the challenge for the Friedkin Group as he shares the ambitions Everton must have.

With the transfer window open, the ownership, scouting department and Moyes will be working in tandem.

And the Scotsman believes there is a method of working in the window that could lead to success.

What message has David Moyes issued to the Friedkin Group

With the off-season nearing it's end, it will not be long before Moyes and his s

So far, there will be no new names at Finch Farm for the Scotsman to work with, but that will assuredly change at some point during the summer.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Moyes was realistic in his thinking that Everton are not as well perched to compete at the same level as the Premier League's top dogs

However, he did insist that he does not mean they cannot punch above their weight, with Brentford and Bournemouth cited as examples.

He said: "I don't know if a club like Everton can make big huge strides, but we have seen how the likes of Bournemouth and Brentford are doing so there is no reason we all shouldn't have those ambitions to try and at least match those clubs and how they go about it."

Over the last few years, both Brentford and Bournemouth have risen up the Premier League table through their use of smart recruiting.

Moyes' should be loud and clear for Dan Friedkin

With Moyes stating that Everton should match how those sides go about things, it feels clear that this is in reference to their work in the transfer market.

While Brentford and Bournemouth have been selling their top stars, they have recruited exceptionally in the other direction as well.

The Bees have not felt the loss of Bryan Mbeumo or Yoanne Wissa in the last season, while Bournemouth went from strenght to strenght after losing Antoine Semenyo in the winter.

The two Premier League clubs are working on limited budgets, but with Everton's stadium capacity and the size of the club, they should ultimately have more spending power.

If they can match the work of Brentford and Bournemouth while operating with that added financial power, there is no reason that the Toffees cannot become a regular fixture in European football once more.

It is now up to the Friedkin Group to showcase and provide the ambition that Moyes is looking for ahead of next season.
