David Moyes 'off to United States' as Everton turn attention to scouting World Cup stars
David Moyes will use his United States base to undertake personal scouting missions for Everton at the World Cup, according to the club's former senior scout.
The Toffees are heading into a potentially busy transfer window after a frustrating end to the campaign and ex-Everton recruitment expert Bryan King has told Goodison News he expects the manager and club recruitment team to be busy at the tournament.
There have been calls from the Scottish head coach to add strength in depth to his squad after fizzling out in the Premier League last season.
Many names have already been linked with a move to Hill Dickinson Stadium, but done deals look to be far away right now.
Plenty of other options will be considered on Merseyside, especially with the World Cup now underway.
Moyes could be set to attend various games as the summer tournament, with Guela Doue potentially one to watch.
David Moyes to jet out to America for World Cup scouting mission
There is always a number of breakout stars at the World Cup and this year is unlikely to be any different.
Having a finger on the pulse can help complete deals for high performing assets at the tournament before they go elsewhere.
That is what Moyes is seemingly trying to do after former colleague and Everton scout Bryan King revealed that the head coach is likely to travel to America this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, King said: "Moyes will be off to America, he's got a house out there.
"He'll be having a look at all the players out there. I would think he'll be at a few World Cup games and there will be other Everton people at different games."
There have been a number of players linked to L3 already who are going to feature at the tournament, but Doue may prove to be the main option to watch at this stage.
Guela Doue could be central to Everton scouting at World Cup
The Ivory Coast international has emerged as a target for the Toffees at this early stage of the summer.
The Athletic reported in June that the "physically outstanding" right back was on the Toffees' wishlist in January after scouts watched him closely at Strasbourg.
If Moyes is to jet out to the World Cup over the summer, he could make the trip to Philadelphia the watch the Ivory Coast face Ecuador or Curacao.
Or if he fancies a trip across the border to Canada he could see Cote d'Ivoire face Germany in their second group game.
There is also likely to be other stars of interest to Moyes and Co., but Doue must be near the top of the shortlist.
