Everton could get Romelu Lukaku reunion chance amid 'interesting' developments
Romelu Lukaku could be eyed by Everton after nine years away, according to a former employee.
The Belgium international is currently featuring at his fourth World Cup with the Red Devils.
Despite his season being interrupted by various injuries, he was called up by Rudi Garcia.
He had a telling impact in the opening fixture as he forced an own goal to snatch a draw against Egypt in Seattle.
The 33-year-old could be on the move once the tournament comes to an end and Hill Dickinson Stadium may prove to be his destination.
Lukaku could return to the Toffees this summer as the search for a striker may be set to get underway in L3.
Everton could move to bring Romelu Lukaku in from Napoli
The number nine has spent the past two seasons at Napoli after sealing a £30million move from Chelsea.
His first ended with a Serie A title as Antonio Conte's sealed the league with the Belgian contributing to 25 goals in the process.
That output was ruined by fitness issues in the most recent campaign after he was limited to just seven appearances.
A spell at the World Cup could help him rebuild, before potentially departing Napoli in the summer.
Former Everton scout Bryan King believes Lukaku will be of interest to the Blues as Napoli look to make changes to their squad this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, King said: "Lukaku had a great time at Everton and he fully enjoyed his time there.
"If he's available, he's a striker who knows the club and the area, so he'll certainly be of interest to bring him back. He did well in the Premier League before, so it'd certainly be an interesting one.
"Napoli didn't do as well as they'd have hoped last season, so there's bound to be changes there after spending a lot of money.
"What a summer it'd be for Everton if they got Lukaku back. He was very popular because he scored goals."
Lukaku could replace Thierno Barry amid RB Leipzig interest
The Toffees could soon be in the market for a new striker should Thierno Barry move on after just 12 months.
A report from The Times on Thursday said that RB Leipzig have made an approach to sign the Frenchman.
Everton want to recoup the £34million they spent on him last summer, so are seemingly open to a sale at the right fee.
Should the ex-Villarreal man move on, it could open the door for Lukaku to make his Merseyside return.
If the Blues could get a deal done, the Belgian could prove to be a real coup if he could hit the ground running back in the Premier League.
