Everton could be set to wave goodbye to Harrison Armstrong on another loan deal.

The Toffees clearly rate the 19-year-old highly after recalling him in January.

He went on to play a key role under David Moyes early on before slowly falling down the pecking order as the season went on.

The midfielder became a bit-part player on Merseyside and may have regretted leaving Preston North End.

His loan spell at Deepdale was superb and it seems as if he is open to a similar L3 departure this summer.

Armstrong may have his eye on another loan move, but it doesn't look likely to be in the Championship this time.

European clubs handed advantage in Harrison Armstrong race

There is no doubt that the teenager is in need of regular minutes to continue his development.

He already looks comfortable in the Blues' first team, but more experienced options have been preferred.

That could open the door to a summer departure, in a similar vein to his prior moves to Derby County and Preston.

This time he could favour a move abroad as Alan Nixon reported via Patreon on Sunday that Armstrong is open to a loan move to Europe for next season.

The midfielder's camp are said to be looking at homes in France and Germany, where he wants to move to aid his development.

That is while a number of Championship sides enter the race for his signature, but a move to the continent is seemingly the preferred option.

He may have his eye on a departure, but it will ultimately come down to the Toffees' hierarchy to make a decision.

Will Everton allow Armstrong to leave on loan again?

It does feel as if it makes sense to allow the Englishman to get a full-season of first-team football under his belt elsewhere.

The issue is, for now, that he is needed as a useful squad player for Moyes.

That could all change over the course of the summer if new options come in as the likes of Hayden Hackney and Pape Gueye are linked.

If the Toffees can bring in fresh faces for their midfield, it could open the door for Armstrong to leave.

Everton just need to be clever in their decision making and can't risk letting the teen go if they don't have enough depth ready for the new Premier League season.
