Everton will decide how to proceed should they receive an offer from RB Leipzig for Thierno Barry or any other club this summer.

This suggests that the Toffees are open to selling the man they signed from Villarreal for £27.5million less than 12 months ago.

Barry was seen as a development signing that could grow along with the Blues, but a mixed bag of a first season has left some supporters unimpressed.

He's especially caused controversy with off-field antics related to social media incidents that have sparked confusion and outrage at times among Evertonians.

David Moyes is keen on adding a new striker to his ranks this summer, and if he does, one of Barry or Beto will surely need to head for the exit.

Now, Everton have been gifted a chance to right their transfer wrongs as Bundesliga side RB Leipzig have made an approach to sign the Frenchman.

Thierno Barry yet to justify price tag

It was always going to be expected that Barry was going to have some struggles in his first season in the Premier League.

The 23-year-old has had some highs in L3, but mainly lows, and lost his spot in the starting eleven to Beto towards the end of the season.

But with Beto also unsure of his future in Merseyside, it remains to be seen which of the pair could leave the Toffees this summer.

Everton's total package deal, including potential add-ons to sign Barry, reached a fee of £34m, though a goal return of eight for an up-front fee of £27.5m equates to roughly around £3.4m spent per goal the forward scores.

Assuming he stays at Everton, this average would obviously be lower, but it does paint the picture of the slow first season that he has had.

Now, his sale is a no-brainer, with the Blues reportedly compiling a list of potential number nine targets.

Everton's internal thoughts suggest they accept Barry mistake

It's said that Everton's football leadership group will assess the situation with Barry should Leipzig make an official bid.

While they have a minimum price of the full fee initially paid for the former Villarreal star, the initial thoughts suggest that the club accept they have made somewhat of a mistake.

Despite the plan being for him to develop with time, if you had told Everton chiefs that they would consider selling Barry in 12 months for the same fee just a year after he signs, they'd most likely have pulled the plug on a deal.

If he does go then it will have been a total waste of time, but from the evidence shown so far, it may be best to accept this small defeat and move on.
