Everton have crucial Jordan Pickford conversation to have after Juventus transfer news
Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has been linked with a move to Juventus this summer.
While the Toffees need to be questioned for the inability to qualify for Europe over the last few seasons, there has to be an air of acceptance that things could have been far worse.
Had it not been for Pickford's heroics in previous campaigns, there is a high chance that Everton may have been relegated, showcasing the level of importance he holds in this team.
As a result, his performances for the Merseysiders have seen him linked with a move to Juventus as they look to upgrade in the goalkeeping department.
On the face of it, an exit from Hill Dickinson would seem nonsensical for all involved.
However, the links certainly pose a question to the Toffees that needs to be answered in the coming months.
Should Everton cash in on Jordan Pickford?
That is the question for Everton to answer this summer, as uncomfortable as it may seem right now.
At 32 years old, his resale value is decreasing heavily, and while that has to be levelled against his importance, it's still a fairly valid argument.
It won't be long until the Toffees need to invest in that area of the squad regardless.
And based on his previous campaign, there have been some signs, minor at that, of his performance levels regressing.
Pickford's 2025-26 stats may spark some concern
Once again, Pickford certainly did more good than bad last season, but when compared to the previous campaign, his numbers have fallen.
In the season before last, Pickford recorded a 73.5 per cent save percentage in the Premier League with 6.15 goals prevented.
On top of that, he made just one error that led to a goal.
In comparison, last season his save percentage dropped to 66.7 per cent, as did his goals prevented, which was recorced at 2.77.
This time, he made three erros that led to a goal.
Those numbers arent concerning in themselves, but again, it certainly begs the question as to whether it's time to upgrade.
