Everton have quietly added new coach to David Moyes' staff as image emerges
David Moyes looks to have added a new member to his Everton coaching staff on the sly.
Everton know that improvements need to be made in 2026-27, as the manner in which last season faded out for them was hugely disappointing.
The Toffees didn't move to Hill Dickinson Stadium to remain in their mid-table status quo, with The Friedkin Group setting their sights on European football moving forward.
Moyes has a talented group of players who he will hope to further strengthen this summer, but perhaps he needs some upgrades to his coaching team as well.
Last Saturday, Everton began their pre-season campaign with a trip to Scottish Premiership side Dundee, and came away with a 4-0 win.
The result, however, may not be the most important Toffees takeaway from this game though.
Who has seemingly joined Everton's coaching staff?
Goodison News covered the news that Everton had appointed Dave Hughes and Tom Curtis to various academy coaching roles this summer.
Hughes has joined as Everton's new Head of Academy Player Development, whilst Curtis joins as a Professional Development Phase Senior Coach and Head of Training respectively.
However, those were academy hires, but now it appears as though the Toffees have strengthened their senior coaching group as well.
As shown in a still image shared to X via a user named Michael, Moyes and his Everton coaches are seen on the bench against Dundee.
Look closer though, and the figure sat crossed-legged and directly under the Dundee crest appears to be Dave Reddington.
The 45-year-old has previously spent the best part of three years as Crystal Palace's assistant manager between 2018 to 2021, before again spending the following three years as assistant manager with Danish side Aarhus from 2021 to 2024.
No official announcement has been made by Everton of Reddington's appointment, but does his social media accounts offer any further confirmation of his new Toffees role?
What Reddington's social media says about his current job role
Reddington's most recent position has been with AFC Wimbledon, where he joined them as a first-team coach in the summer of 2024.
Indeed, Wimbledon announced in October last year that he, along with Dons manager Johnnie Jackson and assistant Terry Skiverton, had all extended their contracts until the end of the 2026-27 season.
Therefore, if Everton have indeed appointed him, then compensation will surely have been required to bring him to Merseyside.
Meanwhile, Wimbledon's official website still has him listed as an active first-team coach with them too, so this is a strange situation to say the least.
It certainly appears as though Reddington is now with Everton in some coaching capacity given the above image captured of him, but no official announcements or personal social media clues back that up at this moment in time.
