Everton could be preparing the sale of Beto amid interest in West Ham United's Taty Castellanos.

The striker position is a top priority for David Moyes this summer, and Castellanos is perhaps the most realistic transfer target the Blues have been linked with so far

Nuno Espirito Santo was unable to keep the Hammers in the Premier League, and Moyes seems keen on raiding his former club, with recent speculation surrounding Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Tomas Soucek.

However, Beto himself has admitted he's in the dark over what happens next for him at Hill Dickinson, as the forward is aware the club wants a new number nine.

The 28-year-old has now spent three seasons with Everton and is viewed as a flop of a signing by many due to the Blues spending around £26million to sign him back in 2023.

Now, Everton are targeting a move for Castellanos, who may not cost the Friedkin Group too much money.

Taty Castellanos available for cut-price deal amid Everton interest

The Toffees have been linked with the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Dusan Vlahovic, Gabriel Jesus and others in recent weeks, but speculation has seemed far-fetched.

Everton simply want to sign a striker who scores goals, and given that Castellanos has proved he can do that in just half a season in the Premier League, he could emerge as a top target, as highlighted by The Guardian.

The Irons signed the 27-year-old for £25m in January, but as reported by Marco Mampreso in May, the forward will be available for a "bargain fee" this summer.

Though he's not at this year's World Cup, the forward is an Argentina international and has made two appearances for his country this year.

Castellanos has shown his vast collection of goal-scoring abilities, impressing particularly well with a sensational long-range volley against Newcastle in the second-to-last gameweek of the season.

Why will Thierno Barry stay?

Beto did show signs of improvement in the last few weeks of the campaign, but having had purple patches in the past, Evertonians won't be fooled this time.

It's likely that if Everton signs Castellanos or any other striker, then Beto will leave.

That leaves Thierno Barry as the only other number nine at the club, but it's important to remember that the Toffees still see him as a player who will develop further yet.

The Frenchman has been involved in controversy with fans this year, but Everton are set to back him, with the hope that he can one day be a top Premier League centre-forward.
