Everton make approach to sign second Crystal Palace player after Brennan Johnson

Everton pressing forward with their bid to sign a new right-back before the Premier League season kicks off next week.

After seeing Seamus Coleman leave earlier this summer, David Moyes has a serious gap to fill on the right-hand side of his defence.

Jake O'Brien, naturally a centre-back, filled in there last term while Nathan Patterson doesn't appear to be in Moyes' plans for the upcoming 2026-27 campaign.

As a result, Everton have reportedly set their sights on signing Daniel Munoz from Crystal Palace.

The Blues are already close to sealing a swap deal that sees Brennan Johnson join from Palace and Dwight McNeil head to Selhurst Park.

But due to the latest twist in the race to sign Celtic's Alistair Johnstor, the Toffees have now moved their attention towards Colombia international Munoz.

Alan Nixon reported via his Patreon page on Monday night that Everton are lining up a move for Munoz after baulking at the price-tag Celtic have slapped on Johnston.

Nixon claims that Everton have approached Palace to ask them to be "kept informed" over developments regarding the 30-year-old right-back.

Munoz scored five goals and supplied four assists in 46 appearances across all competitions for Crystal Palace last season.

He's been a key player in Eagles' recent trophy haul, which has seen them lift the FA Cup, Community Shield and Conference League within the last 15 months.

Munoz also starred for Colombia at the World Cup, scoring twice in the group stages before eventually being knocked out by Switzerland on penalties in the Round of 16.

But does this all seem too good to be true for Everton?

Will Everton actually be able to sign Munoz?

It feels a bit unrealistic to be going from Celtic and Canada right-back Johnston to Palace and Colombia right-back Munoz.

While the ex-Genk full-back is now in his 30s, he's someone who's smashed it in the Premier League with the Eagles and has performed well for a top country on the global scene.

According to Nixon, Palace are signing a long-term replacement for Munoz, meaning that he's more likely to be available this summer.

It's claimed that the Londoners expect to receive offers for the Colombian in the coming weeks, meaning that Everton have every chance of actually pulling this one.

Their current dialogue with Palace over the Johnson and McNeil swap will also help.
