Everton are pushing forward with their bid to sign Atalanta right-back Raoul Bellanova.

The defender has emerged as an option for the Toffees to reinforce their backline in the transfer window and the hierarchy in L3 have now taken steps to get a deal over the line for him.

Last season, the 26-year-old struggled to get back into the team after a hamstring injury in January, but the Blues seem to have earmarked him to bolster their defence.

Atalanta have already made plans to replace Bellanova with Nottingham Forest's Nicolo Savona if he moves to Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Jake O'Brien has been David Moyes' first-choice right-back since his return to the Merseyside outfit, but the Republic of Ireland international has struggled at times playing out of his natural position.

Seamus Coleman has left the club while Nathan Patterson's future remains in the balance, but it remains to be seen who the Scottish manager ends up signing.

Everton offer less than what Atalanta paid for Raoul Bellanova

Atalanta signed Bellanova from Torino in the summer of 2024 for a little over £21million, including add-ons.

In the defender's debut season with La Dea, he looked like a bargain, providing 10 assists in 34 Serie A appearances, mostly as a wing-back, but injuries affected him in the 2025-26 campaign.

On 2 July, according to Italian journalist Luca Cerchione, who features on the well-known OCWSport podcast, the Toffees have tabled a bid worth £17m plus bonuses.

Bellanova is an Italy international who has made six appearances for his national team, most recently in the World Cup qualifiers in November, playing 90 minutes as a right-back against Moldova.

David Moyes already knows who second summer signing will be

With Hayden Hackney being unveiled as Moyes' first summer signing, Everton have also been working on Tyrique George's arrival for some time now.

The Toffees had the option to sign the 20-year-old English winger after his loan spell from Chelsea, but have renegotiated the fee.

Slowly but surely, the recruitment team in L3 are laying the foundations for the Blues' mini-squad overhaul, as the Scottish manager is tasked with convincing fans he's the right person for the job after a disappointing end to the season.
