Everton have reached an agreement with Villarreal for the transfer of Pape Gueye.

The Toffees mean business this window, and are looking to seal their fourth signing of the summer already.

David Moyes has already welcomed both Tyrique George and Merlin Rohl back on permanent deals after the pair impressed on loan last season.

Hayden Hackney is a new face at Finch Farm after the ex-Middlesbrough star was made a top midfield priority, though Moyes isn't done adding to this area of the field.

The Blues seem to have beaten Premier League competition for the signing of Gueye, reaching a full agreement with the La Liga club

Everton have had Gueye on their radar for a while, and it may have been his impressive World Cup performances that pushed them closer.

Financial figures for Pape Gueye revealed

Goodison News has previously reported that Everton directors increased their inquiries for Gueye in recent weeks, as they were said to be keen on assessing transfer conditions for the 27-year-old.

The Toffees admired the Senegal international's athleticism in the middle of the park, with his versatility also another component that can translate over into the Premier League.

Though Gueye was sent home from the World Cup with Senegal teammates Idrissa Gana Gueye and Iliman Ndiaye, his performance in the 5-0 win over Iraq was sensational, scoring twice and getting an assist.

Now, Africa Foot have reported on Monday that Everton have agreed a fee worth around £24million for Gueye, with an additional £4m in add-ons also included.

The add-ons are said to be based on Champions League qualification, similar to the deal with Hackney, as well as other contributions.

It's said that the likes of Manchester United, Crystal Palace, Brighton and Sunderland are all interested, but the Blues have moved ahead after reaching an agreement with Villarreal.

Everton are doing business for Moyes early, which is interesting in comparison to last summer.

How many signings had Everton made this time last year?

Though Rohl was always likely to join due to the conditions of Everton's obligation to buy the German from Freiburg, he was still classed as one of the first signings.

Hackney and George's arrivals also mean that the Blues could be about to add their fourth addition of the summer, if Gueye does sign.

The Toffees had only finalised the signings of Carlos Alcaraz, Thierno Barry and Mark Travers this time last summer, before they had to wait until 29 July to get their fourth addition in Adam Aznou.

The level of the signings appear to be much higher in quality, too, as it's an exciting time to be an Everton fan right now.
