Everton reach agreement to sign Abdul Fatawu as Leicester City's summer budget expected to be funded
Everton have reached an agreement to sign Leicester City's Abdul Fatawu.
The Toffees have long admired the winger, who has gone from the Premier League to League One in a matter of years.
Despite the Foxes' relegation from the Championship last season, the 22-year-old picked up 16 goals and assists combined, impressing the Blues and other European sides.
David Moyes is keen to add ability on either flank, with uncertainty over Iliman Ndiaye's future remaining.
The Blues already brought back Tyrique George to the club, but with other departures possible, more players may be needed for wide positions.
Now it appears that Everton are closing in on their fourth signing of the summer, having reached an agreement to bring Fatawu back to the Premier League.
Everton's agreement to sign Abdul Fatawu in report from Turkey
Fatawu joined Leicester City permanently in July of 2024, after the Foxes decided to keep him after impressive performances in their promotion campaign in the 2023-24 season.
The right-winger is highly regarded as a top talent in the EFL, and everyone would agree that his skill does not belong in the third tier of English football.
There have been recent reports linking the Ghana international to Besiktas, but it appears Everton might have beaten the Turkish giants to him.
According to an update on X from Murat Ozen, journalist for Turkish outlet Ortacizgic, information has emerged that Fatawu has reached an agreement with Moyes' side, amid interest from Besiktas.
Goodison News has previously reported that a deal with Leicester to sign Fatawu would fund the former's transfer budget for this summer.
The forward has most likely returned home since being at the World Cup with Ghana, so it's no surprise to see him moving on with discussing his future.
Fatawu's injury history assessed
Everton may have to spend £20million to sign Fatawu, as it seems like an agreement may have just been reached with the player.
It would be a huge success if the Toffees did manage to pull it off, as the forward appears ready for regular first-team minutes in the Premier League, with Leicester currently holding him back.
Some Evertonians may always look to potential signings and their injury records, but Fatawu has had just one setback in his career so far, though it was a big one.
The forward suffered a cruciate ligament injury in the 2024-25 season, which saw him sidelined for 260 days.
This limited him to just 11 Premier League appearances, but he could be set for plenty more top-flight matches at Hill Dickinson soon.
