Everton reach agreement to sign Christian Norgaard as final fee and medical details revealed

Everton have reached an agreement with Arsenal to sign midfielder Christian Norgaard.

The 32-year-old is expected to be the next signing that the Toffees make for David Moyes in an unexpected transfer move.

The former Brentford man is set to undergo a medical next week ahead of a permanent switch.

He will provide cover for new signing Hayden Hackney, with James Garner also set to play an important part in the middle of the park.

The deal still needs formalising, but agreements have been reached, with final details still needed for it to be completed.

Everton are set to splash out a multi-million-pound fee for Norgaard, who adds Premier League experience for Moyes' men.

According to a fresh update from The Athletic's David Ornstein this Saturday, Everton have reached an agreement with Arsenal to sign Norgaard.

The midfielder is expected to join the Toffees for a fee worth £7million.

Norgaard only joined the Arsenal last summer in a deal worth £10m, but looks set to move on already with a Premier League winners medal to his name.

He looks primed to become Everton's fourth signing of the season after Merlin Rohl, Hackney and Tyrique George.

He's most likely seen as a direct replacement for Idrissa Gana Gueye, who was set for a backseat at Hill Dickinson this season, had the Senegal international stayed.

There are plenty of reasons why this makes sense for Everton, but it may also help Moyes and Co. focus on what their true priorities are.

What Everton want next after Norgaard

Looking at Everton's pre-season squad, it's clear that the Toffees are weak in some areas.

The Blues did need someone in the mould of Norgaard, though there are much more important targets for the club to make.

One being a new right-back, as Goodison News understands Celtic's Alistair Johnston is a key target for Everton.

He may cost the Blues up to £25million, as the Friedkin Group will also want money spare for a new striker.

Manchester United forward Ethan Wheatley is wanted by the Toffees as they look to strengthen their academy after several Finch Farm exits.

However, it remains to be seen who the Toffees' number one striker target is this summer.
