Everton serious about Cesare Casadei amid 'significant' update from Italy

Everton remain interested in signing Cesare Casadei from Torino this summer.

The Toffees were linked with the former Chelsea ace in the winter window after a stellar first half to the campaign.

Casadei went on to score six goals for Torino in Serie A from defensive midfield, with his displays earning him attention from teams other than Everton.

With three years to run on his contract in Turin, however, the 23-year-old will likely not come cheap.

But Everton are very much in the mix for his signature amid a new transfer update from Italy.

Everton know Cesare Casadei won't come easy

Casadei has experience of English football, having spent time with Chelsea prior to joining Torino last summer.

During his time at Stamford Bridge, Casadei was restricted to just 17 appearances, although he did gain experience on loan elsewhere.

He played under Enzo Maresca at Leicester City and also played for Reading, so he will not need much time to adapt.

According to a report from Tuttosport on Thursday, Everton have continued to closely monitor the Ravenna native.

However, fellow Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion - who can offer European football - have also been keeping tabs on Casadei.

The same report adds that Torino are under no pressure to sell the midfielder, and it would take a "significant" offer to do so.

Friedkin Group can make Everton intentions clear

Casadei appears to be exactly the type of player Everton should be going after this summer.

He is a player who is catching the eye in a top European league and is on the radar of teams of a similar stature.

While it is true he will not come cheap, this is where The Friedkin Group can put their money where their mouth is.

It was previously suggested a fee just south of £15million might be enough to land Casadei, but that valuation may now be a little light.

David Moyes is in need of new players pretty much all over the park, so fingers crossed the Friedkins get one or two of these over the line early on.
