Everton have made ground in their bid to kickstart their summer transfer window early.

With The Friedkin Group in the boardroom, David Moyes on the touchline and a brand, spanking-new stadium to move into, there's a huge buzz among Evertonians about the coming months.

Everton have already signed off on a bunch of players leaving with loanees Jack Harrison, Jesper Lindstrom, Orel Mangala and Armando Broja returning to their parent clubs and contracts expiring for Abdoulaye Doucoure, Ashley Young, Asmir Begovic and Joao Virginia.

However, there are some questions that remain about certain other players in the Everton squad.

Everton set to seal permanent Carlos Alcaraz transfer

It has been reported that Everton are on the verge of signing Carlos Alcaraz on a permanent basis from Flamengo.

Times journalist Paul Joyce said via his personal X account on Wednesday (28 May) that a £12.6million deal is expected to be done before the end of play on Saturday (31 May).

Joyce mentioned a report by Brazilian journalist Leticia Marques, who'd previously claimed on GE that Everton are discussing a deal for Alcaraz, 22, after a permanent transfer clause wasn't triggered in the loan agreement he signed in the winter.

After 16 Premier League appearances for Everton, the decision has now been made that Moyes and co want to keep him on board on a permanent basis.

Marques reports that the £12.6million deal is "expected to be made in three instalments".

Alcaraz signing makes sense for Everton

Alcaraz clearly didn't play as much as he, Everton or Flamengo expected after joining from the Brazilian club in early February.

If he did, his permanent move would have been automatically sealed.

However, it's a good move by the Blues to strike a deal with Flamengo at a lower cost than what was initially agreed, considering he only started seven times in the Premier League.

Alcaraz ended the season well, scoring once and supplying two assists in his final four outings of the campaign.

Evertonians will be hoping for more of that at the Hill Dickinson Stadium once he's made the move permanent.
