Everton have submitted a £16million bid for Hull City winger Jaden Philogene, according to The Athletic.

The Athletic reported on 9 July that the Toffees' initial offer includes further add-ons and has seen the club formally join Ipswich Town and Crystal Palace in the race for his signature.

Philogene and fellow Hull star Jacob Greaves have already been the subject of a £35million joint bid from Ipswich the Athletic said, with Greaves having completed a medical at the club.

Berto Camacho, Philogene's agent, has already been spotted at the Blues' Finch Farm training ground, with Sean Dyche's side now acting upon their long-standing interest. [Instagram, 9 July].

Everton show clear intent in Jaden Philogene transfer battle

As a club who've been short of disposable cashflow for some time, one of the last things the Toffees need this summer is a bidding war for Philogene [Kieran Maguire, 8 July].

Palace and newly promoted Ipswich both have the financial strength brought about by Premier League status, although it's unknown exactly how the latter's bid for both Philogene and Greaves is structured.

If Ipswich don't value Philogene as highly as Everton do, the 22-year-old may be inclined to choose the Toffees, with Goodison Park reportedly being his preferred destination despite interest from Barcelona [Florian Plettenberg, 30 June].

Therefore, the onus is now on Sean Dyche's side to seal the deal and make one of the Championship's most exciting players a part of their new-look squad next season.

The Blues have already spent £24million on Iliman Ndiaye and Tim Iroegbunam so far this summer, and with only two first-team winger currently on the books, adding Philogene to the mix could bring some much-needed X-factor to the blue half of Merseyside [Sky Sports, 3 July].
