Everton thrown new curveball for Raoul Bellanova amid £47m Atalanta development
Everton may have to dip their hands deep in their pockets if they are to pry Raoul Bellanova away from Atalanta this summer.
The Toffees have one outstanding priority this summer, and that is to sign a new right-back, with the Atalanta star on that list.
Jake O'Brien played the majority of last campaign out on the right of defence for the Blues, but there is now an internal and external belief that the position needs to be upgraded.
That was made even clearer when Seamus Coleman announced that he would be leaving Everton after his career-long stay with the Toffees.
Bellanova has been identified as a target for David Moyes, as the full-back possesses clear attacking qualities, as well as top-class defensive abilities.
However, Atalanta may not be in a position where they need to sell this summer, which may scare Everton out of entering concrete negotiations.
Atalanta right-back agrees to Man City swap amid £47m valuation
Atalanta right-back Marco Palestra has agreed on personal terms to join Manchester City.
The Serie A side are holding out for a package deal worth £47million, which they are said to be firm on.
Palestra was on loan with Cagliari last season, impressing in the Serie A, and now returning to Atalanta as a sellable asset.
However, if Atalanta do agree to sell him, they will not be short of money, but they will be short of right-backs.
This could then throw a spanner in the works for any possible deal that Everton try to strike for Bellanova, as Atalanta may have anticipated Palestra to be the first-choice full-back instead.
Either way, the Toffees will soon learn if they can get a deal done for the Italian international.
These two targets are who Everton could go for instead of Bellanova
Everton may not have Bellanova at the top of their transfer targets, but he is certainly in the five-man list to fill the right-back spot at Hill Dickinson.
One other target the Blues could look to pursue is Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who could be available for £15million following West Ham's relegation.
The former Manchester United defender has Premier League experience and is someone who Moyes seems to be keen on signing.
Other than Wan-Bissaka, Everton may also push on with their interest in Ben White, though out of all linked right-backs, he may be the most costly.
