Everton are set to lose to Manchester City in the race to sign Juma Bah from Real Valladolid, according to Alan Nixon.

The journalist reported to his Patreon on (12 January) that the Premier League champions look set to sign the Sierra Leone national despite opposition from across Europe.

The 18-year-old could depart the Spanish club owned by Ronaldo Nazario for City before going out on loan for 18 months.

The Toffees are waiting for encouragement in the battle for the centre back but Pep Guardiola's side could win the race in the coming days.

Everton interested in Manchester City target Juma Bah

It is interesting to see that a new defensive option is wanted at Goodison Park given the failure of Jake O'Brien since joining from Lyon.

With that being said, Bah can be seen as one for the present and the future considering his young age and his first team experiences.

The 2006-born defender has already clocked up 11 appearances in La Liga so far this season, featuring in two clean sheets since the start of December.

The Sierra Leone star certainly has pedigree for his age and with the level of sides interested in his signature, certainly would represent a coup for the Toffees.

Jarrad Branthwaite has formed a positive partnership with James Tarkowski in the last season and a half but the ex-Burnley man could be slowly phased out if the right-footed youngster comes in from Spain.

If David Moyes can offer the Real Vallodolid starlet first-team assurances in the Premier League, Manchester City could be left red-faced by the L4 club in January.
