Everton may finally be set to sign Baris Alper Yilmaz after years of mooted interest.

David Moyes has yet to really bolster his Everton forward line this summer.

The permanent arrivals of Tyrique George and Merlin Rohl have helped, but the latter has been playing at right-back in pre-season, and George is still looking for his first Toffees goal.

As such, the potential signing of Yilmaz would be Everton's first big foray into the forwards market this summer, with the Galatasaray star fresh off the back of scoring 12 goals and providing 14 assists last season.

He's now back with Galatasaray after being part of Turkey's World Cup squad this summer, in which he scored and registered one assist in three games at the tournament.

And now, he could be set for another big career milestone this summer, as a transfer to Everton appears to be on the cards.

Alan Myers delivers Everton Baris Alper Yilmaz transfer intel

Goodison News has been covering reports suggesting Everton have launched a £35million bid for Yilmaz.

This would mark Everton's biggest transfer of the summer window so far and should ease some of the tension growing among fans who have become slightly concerned about the Toffees' lack of transfer activity.

As such, they will be thankful not to see cold water being poured on these links to Yilmaz, and instead, Everton's interest is being validated.

Prominent and respected Everton reporter Alan Myers shared via X his understanding of the interest in Yilmaz.

"I’m told there is some truth in the Yilmaz from Galatasaray links, not sure how big the interest is," said Myers.

So, with Yilmaz seemingly a genuine Everton transfer target, what is his current contract situation with Galatasaray, and does it work in the Toffees' or Turkish sides' favour?

Why Galatasaray may be primed to cash in on Yilmaz now

As aforementioned, Yilmaz enjoyed an excellent individual 2025-26 season with Galatasaray.

Indeed, he also had impressive campaigns in 2024-25 and 2023-24 respectively, and has played over 200 times for them since signing there in the summer of 2021.

Now in the prime of his career, the versatile forward could be ready to test himself in the Premier League, having only ever played his football in Turkey to this point.

This summer might be the perfect time for Galatasaray to sell too, as Yilmaz is only contracted with them through to the summer of 2028.

His stock has never been higher than it is now, and whilst there's still two years left on his deal, maximum value can be attained for his sale.

So, whilst it's set to be an expensive deal, Yilmaz could be a hugely impactful signing for Everton in a Toffees forward line that desperately needs some fresh injection of talent.
