Galatasaray respond to Baris Alper Yilmaz bid as Everton meetings revealed
Everton are pushing hard to sign Galatasaray's Baris Alper Yilmaz, with money now on the table.
The Toffees have reignited their interest in the 26-year-old attacker, who has been on their radar since 2024.
Goodison News shared reports that Blues officials had jetted out for meetings with the Turkish club.
They are believed to have launched a £35million offer to try and seal a deal for the winger.
David Moyes' side desperately need attacking reinforcements, and the 38-cap international would fit the bill.
There has now been more detail provided about the talks that the Hill Dickinson side have engaged in.
What is Galatasaray's response to Everton's approach for Baris Alper Yilmaz
Everton have received encouragement when it comes to their chances of signing Yilmaz.
Burhan Can Terzi, the Turkish journalist who reported the initial approach has now provided a new update on Saturday morning.
He claims that club sources have not brushed off the claims and instead retorted with "it's not official."
It's said that the Blues met with Galatasaray's manager, Okan Buruk, on Thursday and the player's representatives on Friday.
The fact that they have refused to rule out the exit, suggests that a move may be advancing.
Yildiz needs to be better than Everton's previous Turkish attacker
If the transfer happens, he would the second Turkish player to feature for the Merseysiders in their history.
The only previous one is Cenk Tosun, who scored 11 goals and made six assists in 61 appearances in his time with the Blues.
Yilmaz needs to have a much better impact than that if he is to succeed in L3, and leave a better legacy than his compatriot did.
His numbers in the Super Lig last season make for good reading, as he notched eight goals and 12 assists in the league.
If he could replicate that in the English top-flight, it would go a long way to helping Moyes' side to achieve their ambitions of qualifying for European football.
It may take him a bit of time to settle in, but he has the talent and the numbers behind him to make it work with the People's Club, if they end up getting their man.
That remains to be seen, but the latest update implies that it is possible.
