Everton's academy negligence laid bare as exit of 'unbelievable talent' Isaac Heath confirmed
Everton have sanctioned the sale of academy prospect Isaac Heath to Cambridge United for an undisclosed fee.
The Toffees have let go of another one of their top stars, this time with Heath, who is destined to have a top career.
His exit was announced by Everton's academy Instagram account this Monday, much to the disappointment of some supporters.
The 21-year-old had a stellar individual campaign last season while on loan with Accrington Stanley, in what was his first campaign in the professional game.
Heath had been impressing at Finch Farm for years, but was sadly never given the opportunity to show himself for the first team.
Now, he will play in League One next season, as Everton have made another example of their ignorance towards clear academy talent.
Everton loses 'unbelievable talent' in Isaac Heath
Given that last season was Heath's first time competing at the senior level, he did an amazing job.
The Englishman picked up 11 goal contributions in all competitions from left-wing back, earning plaudits from his manager, John Doolan.
Speaking to BBC Sport earlier in the season, the Accrington manager called Heath an "unbelievable talent", and one that he thinks will go right to the top.
This pre-season would have given the versatile wing-back a chance to prove to David Moyes that he is worth trusting.
However, as we have seen time and time again from Moyes, he is unwilling to put his faith in some of the clubs best talents.
This time, the Toffees have lost Heath, so who will be next, Braiden Graham?
Everton irony on show with Heath sale; here's why
This sale underlines a clear issue at Everton, and that is that the Blues do not pay enough attention to the talent at Finch Farm.
There have been so many cases of misjudgment with youngsters over the years, and it appears to be continuing.
The Toffees should have handed Heath a deserved new deal and sent him back on loan to League One at the very least, but clearly the player feels he needs to be freed from his shackles in Merseyside.
The Irony about it is that Moyes could do with a left-back option, seem as though another young talent in Adam Aznou could force his way out this summer.
It's a bit of a mess when it comes to the development of young players with this club, an issue that may continue for years to come.
