Everton look to be moving towards signing Sunderland's Trai Hume to solve their right-back issues.

The Sunderland defender has recently emerged as an option for David Moyes with the transfer window just days from coming to an end.

With a 1 September deadline, the Blues must get a move on to sort out their squad issues.

Pushing for European qualification is the goal for the L3 outfit but they will fall way short if they do not bring in more additions.

The manager will know this all to well, with right full-back one of the more pressing issues.

And Hume may be the answer for that problem this summer.

What does David Moyes see Trai Hume becoming at Everton?

Everton's right-back signing may finally be on the way this summer with Sunderland's Hume on the radar.

According to the print edition of the Mirror on 28 August, Everton are "closing in" on a deal for Hume, which is said to be worth £20million.

That would suggest that the transfer is more advanced than originally reported.

According to the information shared by the Mirror, Moyes believes that Hume could be a long-term solution for the Toffees in the same ilk of Seamus Coleman.

Additionally, it is shared that as many as six clubs have been trying to prise him away from the Stadium of Light, including Real Madrid at the start of the summer window.

Now, it will be a waiting game for Everton fans to see if this deal does get over the line.

What would Trai Hume bring to Everton?

Hume would bring Everton a highly consistent and reliable right-back, with the 24-year-old having a remarkably clear injury record.

According to Transfermarkt, the Northern Irishman has not picked up a single injury missing a game during his career.

In terms of his style of play, Hume is more of a defensive right-back, with him only creating one big chance in 38 Premier League games last season.

But, he does have a strong 53 per cent duel success rate as per Sofascore.

While Hume is not your typical high-flying attacking football, his more defensive-sided nature could then allow the Blues to commit more bodies forward elsewhere.

Essentially leaving a back three when in possession with Vitalii Mykolenko or Adam Aznou allowed to roam forward.
