Everton and Troy Parrott has been a transfer mooted for months now.

However, things have gone quiet on that front regarding the Irishman's next career steps after AZ Alkmaar.

The Toffees are in the market for a new centre-forward, and Parrott has shown himself to be a capable goalscorer at a high level.

However, the Blues do face heavy competition. Both Ajax and Real Betis have strong intentions to land a deal for the 24-year-old.

Additionally, in the Premier League Fulham are also being attentive to the situation.

With the striker looking to depart AZ Alkmaar with it now being stated that he "has made it clear" to the Dutch club of his wish to leave, he could cost Everton around £25m.

A deal that would cost less than the reported price of Everton target Liam Delap this summer.

Why Everton can jump to front for Parrott

Everton's pressing need for a proper goalscoring striker could hand them the advantage in the race for Parrott.

At all of the other interested parties, there are quite a few obstacles already in place for the Irishman.

Ajax have just signed Wolves striker Tolu Arokodare, meanwhile Fulham are pushing ahead to bring in Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Garcia.

Both potentially putting his minutes at risk already.

At Real Betis, Cucho Hernandez has been far from poor for the Seville-based side. The Colombian scored 11 and assisted three last season in the Spanish top flight.

So, on paper Everton looks to be his best chance of securing guaranteed minutes with neither Beto or Thierno Barry's roles set in place next season.
