How Liam Delap transfer could break history at Everton as demands revealed
Everton have made no secret of their past efforts to sign Liam Delap.
David Moyes was very public on the England youth international as he attempted to sign him last summer.
Delap was pictured outside Goodison Park in its final Premier League season, in dialogue with fans, but it still wasn't enough.
Instead, Everton went into their maiden season at Hill Dickinson Stadium with Beto and new signing, Thierno Barry.
Just like Delap's personal outcome, that didn't end too well either.
Can Everton break history to sign Liam Delap?
Goodison News has heavily covered Everton's interest in Delap, which still hasn't gone away.
Now, the Daily Post has reported in its print edition on Saturday that Chelsea are now asking for £40million.
The newspaper states that the Blues would happily bring in £10m in profit for what they paid for the striker.
It's then noted that would make history at Everton, as Delap would become the most "costly" striker ever signed by them.
That would surpass the initial £35m to sign Richarlison.
Everton have been described as one to watch again, as Xabi Alonso gets ready to clear the decks after spending big at Stamford Bridge already.
What has David Moyes said about Liam Delap?
The Scotsman was consistently asked about the striker last season and into the summer, and didn't avoid it.
Moyes admitted that Everton were interested, but that it may have arrived too late to make a difference.
"We've had a chance to speak to him, yes," he said. "He spoke to three or four clubs.
"He's given us our opportunity to pitch our case. We're probably a little bit behind the black ball, but hopefully, you never know what happens."
Unfortunately, they were too far behind in the end.
But, it could be a completely different story this time around, with Delap possibly choosing Everton if they continue their pursuit.
All a player wants is to feel wanted, and Moyes could give him exactly that at the Hill Dickinson.
