How Will Still's Keito Nakamura assessment proves he'd be an instant Everton fan favourite
Bringing new attackers to Everton looks to be on the agenda for David Moyes amid interest in Keito Nakamura.
The Blues are looking to add to their attacking ranks, with a permanent move to bring Tyrique George back to Hill Dickinson currently being negotiated.
Meanwhile, Jack Grealish's return to L3 is still very much on the Toffees' agenda.
But have the Blues found another star to get fans off their feet in Nakamura?
The Japanese star has been linked with the Merseyside club following his and Japan's exit from the 2026 World Cup.
And based on what his former manager Will Still has had to say, there is no doubt he would be a favourite among the Everton loyal.
What Will Still has said about Keito Nakamura's mentality and work ethic
To become a fan favourite there are multiple ways to go about it.
For instance, you can be the type of player who can change a game out of nowhere and get among the goals and assists.
And another is that you prove to the supporters that you give 100 per cent in each and every one of your performances.
When it comes to Everton-linked Nakamura, he could very well fit into both roles.
Last season, the Japanese winger scored 14 goals in Ligue 2 in 29 appearances. The season before, he netted 11 goals in 32 Ligue 1 games, showcasing a history of goalscoring out wide.
However, more importantly is the work ethic that has been placed upon his head.
Back in 2023, as relayed by Ligue 1, former Stade Reims manager Still said: "Keito is quick, sharp, and gets what’s expected of him. He can score remarkable goals, as seen in Lille, and he’s often amazing in training... If you ask [Ito and Nakamura] to charge headfirst through a wall, they’ll do it."
That assessment would certainly be loved by David Moyes, but a player willing to charge through walls without question would be endearingly beloved by supporters too.
Could Nakamura be Everton's next bargain signing?
Everton have already secured Hayden Hackney for a bargain price, and now Nakamura could follow suit.
While Stade Reims did spend last season in the French second division, Nakamura has been a proven top-flight player and that is reflected in the reported £21.5million asking price.
The forward market can often be extortionate, but signing a player who has scored double digits in goals over the last two campaigns at that price seems quite fair.
Whether Nakamura is truly a concrete option remains to be seen, but Everton could certainly do with the added pace in attack.
