Idrissa Gana Gueye's wife fuels Everton exit speculation with cryptic social media post
Idrissa Gana Gueye's future at Everton is uncertain, and the midfielder's wife may have just hinted that he is on the move after all.
The 36-year-old's contract expires at the end of June, and he is yet to reach an agreement with the Toffees over an extended stay
David Moyes is keen on signing a new midfielder this summer, with Middlesbrough's Hayden Hackney high up on the priority list.
Gueye has spent seven seasons with Everton in total, though he enjoyed a three-year stay with PSG from July 2019 until September 2022, where he rejoined the Blues.
The club are keen to restart negotiations with the midfielder, though they have certain conditions that they will put forward in talks.
However, Gueye's possible Everton exit has been fueled even more by his wife's social media activity.
Idrissa Gana Gueye's wife hints at Everton exit
According to The Liverpool Echo, Everton will only resume talks with Gueye once he returns to Merseyside after his World Cup campaign with Senegal.
The veteran midfielder has played in both of his nation's games so far, though they are yet to pick up a point in Group. I, and risk being eliminated before the knockout stages.
Senegal play Iraq next on Friday, as a win could help Gueye and his nation progress as one of the best-placed teams in third, though a loss would send him and his teammates home early.
However, though Everton are said to once again open talks with Gueye for a new deal, his wife, Paulina, has hinted that the pair are already on the move.
Her message translated states that Gueye's wife claims she's tired with plenty of work to do, as multiple moving boxes are present in the image uploaded to Instagram on Tuesday.
Pauline has claimed that she's been absent from Instagram due to long days of organising recently, which could suggest Gueye is moving house, and possibly even away from Merseyside.
Gueye likely to officially leave Everton; here's why
With Gueye's contract expiring at the end of June, he will officially leave the club and be a free agent in July, should he not agree a new deal with Everton.
But with the former PSG man currently in North America with Senegal, it's unlikely that even if his nation is knocked out of the World Cup early, he will agree to new terms, as there will not be enough time.
There's a very high chance that he has to re-sign with Everton, in what will be his third time signing on as a Toffee.
That's if both parties can find an agreement.
