Ipswich Town eye Tim Iroegbunam in potential ironic Everton swap deal
Tim Iroegbunam has emerged as a target for Ipswich Town as an Everton exit potentially looms.
The 22-year-old has been a useful member of the squad under David Moyes while failing to be a guaranteed starter.
He has often found himself second fiddle to Idrissa Gana Gueye, which has hampered his progress somewhat.
The Englishman has still managed to make a positive impression and has represented positive business on Merseyside.
Iroegbunam could now be on his way out of Everton after two years, with Ipswich looming as a potential destination
Ipswich Town in race to sign Tim Iroegbunam
The midfielder came in from Aston Villa in 2024 and certainly made an immediate positive impression.
That was helped by some of the dire football played under Sean Dyche before he was ultimately sacked.
Things have slowed down under Moyes and he has become more of a squad player at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
That hasn't stopped him from catching the eye away from Merseyside as a summer departure could be on the cards.
The i Paper reported on Thursday that various Premier League sides are interested in Iroegbunam, with Ipswich Town named among them following their recent promotion from the Championship.
Moyes is still said to be a big fan of the former Villa youngster, but SCR limits could prompt the Toffees to go down the player-trading route with a possible swap on the cards.
Should the Scot look to land the supposed four or five fresh faces he wants this summer, the midfielder's exit may prove to be required.
Everton utilised player swap to sign Iroegbunam from Aston Villa
The idea that the 22-year-old could depart Merseyside this summer on a swap deal is actually quite ironic.
He came in from Aston Villa in 2024, exactly in that fashion, as swap deals became common that summer.
The Villans became known for those moves after signing four players through that avenue.
Everton played a role in one of those as Lewis Dobbin completed a move to the Midlands for around £10million.
Iroegbunam went the other way for a similar fee in a deal that could soon be replicated if Ipswich Town make a move.
