Jim White shares new detail about Folarin Balogun transfer fiasco at Everton on deadline day

Jim White has shared a previously unknown detail about Folarin Balogun's failed move to Everton.

The Toffees had been looking to snap up the USA international with Beto allowed to depart for Fiorentina earlier in the day.

Things seemed to be moving smoothly, with the Monaco striker flying into Merseyside to undergo a medical.

However, hours later it would emerge that Balogun failed a part of his medical, with Everton going back to renegotiate the transfer.

Ultimately, it was Balogun himself that walked away from the deal, but all could have been avoided much earlier in the pursuit.

The new detail around Folarin Balogun to Everton that impacted the transfer

If Everton are worried about a possible injury issue, they are within their right to try to renegotiate, so they cannot be faulted for that.

But, it was negligent to even enter a situation that Everton have found themselves in.

However, Balogun's own decisions in the lead up to the deal have also played a role in the eventual collapse.

Speaking live on talkSPORT, in the aftermath of deadline day on 2 September, Jim White has shared an added detail to the saga.

According to White, the AS Monaco striker was late for his originally scheduled flight, meaning he had to take off for England much later than planned.

He went on to say: "Had he got on a scheduled flight in the morning and Monaco had been more forthcoming, the situation might have been rectified later on that bit more easily because it's all about time."

In the end, it would be Everton left reeling over their failure to sign a new number nine.

Thierno Barry now remains the sole senior striker option for David Moyes, with the Scotsman likely to be infuriated by the saga.

What internal solutions do Everton have?

Everton will have to look internally to solve their striker shortage, and Tyrique George is the obvious candidate.

The Englishman has played centrally quite a few times during his career, and he may now have to do the same this season.

Another option for Moyes could be to promote highly-rated youngster Braiden Graham to the squad.
