Jordan Pickford had been linked with a move to Juventus, just months before he is due to enter his 10th season with Everton.

Much of the summer will be focused on the future of Iliman Ndiaye, who has been linked with an exit from Merseyside several times already.

However, reports in recent days have instead been focused on Pickford, who was said to be a target for Juventus.

There was an understanding from the Turin outfit that it would require a significant financial effort to lure him away from the Toffees, given his importance and his contract situation.

In regard to the latter, the England international still has three years left on his current deal at Hill Dickinson.

However, more recent reports will have the Toffees relieved, with it looking as though a move for the goalkeeper could now be off the table.

Juventus set to pursue other Premier League goalkeeper

While Pickford would be a good addition for any side in world football, the same could be said for Emi Martinez, who has also been linked with an exit from Aston Villa on countless occasions.

And that is the case again heading into the summer transfer window, with Gianluca Di Marzio claiming that the Argentine wants to join Juventus.

Similar to the transaction involving Pickford, Juventus are aware that it may require a substantial level of investment to release him from Aston Villa, with a move for Jan Oblak also considered if that fails.

Either way, it seems like Juventus have decided to prevent their interest in Pickford from progressing, if it was even there in the first place.

Everton can't let Juventus' stance alter their transfer plans

With or without Pickford, the Toffees should be looking into the possibility of signing a new goalkeeper this summer.

Not necessarily as a replacement, but more so as a succession plan, with small signs of regression already on show from the former Sunderland star.

It is the perfect way to plan for the future and lower the risk of a failed transfer, showcasing why this summer is the perfect opportunity to achieve it.
