Leicester make Kelechi Iheanacho decision amid Everton transfer links

Kelechi Iheanacho, who Ben Grounds claims is regularly linked with Everton, has been released by Leicester City, a newly-promoted Premier League side.

The Sky Sports journalist took to Twitter on 7 June to relay this news with the Nigeria international a free agent this summer.

Ignazio Genuardi, the former editor of Foot365, claimed in July 2023 that the Toffees were hot on the heels of Iheanacho.

The Toffees should not consider signing Iheanacho as he has not demonstrated the consistency and goal-scoring ability that they need.

Despite his potential, the 27-year-old has struggled to establish himself as a prolific goal scorer, which is a critical requirement for Sean Dyche, especially given his side's recent struggles in front of goal.

Furthermore, Iheanacho's lack of impact at Leicester City, even in the Championship, suggests that he may not be able to make a significant difference at a club like Everton, which has ambitions to compete at a higher level.

They should aim for a striker with a proven track record of scoring goals consistently in top-flight football, rather than taking a risk on Iheanacho.

Signing a new striker this summer is paramount given Dominic Calvert-Lewin's form and fitness issues and Beto potentially on his way out.

It remains to be seen if Dyche prioritises signing another striker or if he'll wait and see which players leave first.
