Manchester United are set to table a second offer to Everton to sign Jarrad Branthwaite within the next week, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper's online edition has reported (23 June) that United are set to return with a fresh proposal after having an initial offer rejected.

The Red Devils offered £38million plus an additional £5m in add-ons earlier this month, the report added, which Everton knocked back.

Manchester United to bid again for Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton

The Englishman had a superb season alongside James Tarkowski in Everton's solid back-line under Sean Dyche.

Branthwaite was hotly tipped for a spot in Gareth Southgate's England squad but missed out despite a lack of left-footed central defenders.

This may have had an effect on his value, although the Toffees don't seem phased as they rejected Man United's initial offer.

There are PSR issues that the club have to contend with which could see them be forced into selling some star names this summer.

With that being said, they seem reluctant to let Branthwaite go unless they receive what they think he is worth from any interested party.

There are therefore others options for Dyche's side to bring in a transfer fee if they aren't to receive the figure that they feel is acceptable for Branthwaite.
