Marcus Edwards 'race won' after Everton transfer talks as £10m claim made

Sporting CP forward Marcus Edwards is set to snub Everton in the winter transfer window, according to TBR Football.

The news outlet reports [1 February] that the Toffees held talks about a potential deal for the 26-year-old but will fail in their pursuit.

Burnley are set to win the race and have offered a deal that includes a £10million obligation to buy the Englishman if they are promoted to the Premier League.

While the failure to get Edwards will be disappointing for the hierarchy at Goodison Park, they quickly need to move on to other targets.

The Blues evidently need to bolster their squad before the 3 February deadline, considering the injury issues in the squad.

David Moyes has managed to bring the best out of the squad, beating Leicester City 4-0 at Goodison Park on Saturday (1 February).

The Merseysiders need a new striker, though, as Beto is the only natural number nine at the Scottish manager's disposal.
