Rayan Cherki transfer: Likely destination revealed in new Everton twist

Everton transfer target Rayan Cherki will potentially move to the Bundesliga in the winter window, according to TEAMtalk.

The news outlet reports (24 January) that the Olympique Lyon forward is "more likely" to join a club in Germany amid interest from the Toffees.

Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen are leading the race for the French attacker who could leave the Ligue 1 outfit before the 3 February deadline.

With the quality of teams eyeing a move for Cherki, it will arguably be difficult for the Blues to compete for his signature.

While The Friedkin Group (TFG) have brought much-needed hope to the Merseyside outfit, it's hard to envision the 21-year-old joining a relegation-threatened side.

The Frenchman would seemingly be an ideal signing for David Moyes in the winter transfer window due to his ability to play in several positions up front.

Everton have struggled for goals this season and evidently need more creativity and flair in the final third to break teams down.

Iliman Ndiaye has done a brilliant job on the left-hand side of the attack, but the right-wing has been one of the weak points for the Toffees.

Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom have underwhelmed when called upon, and neither has been able to cement their place in the starting lineup.

Cherki's arrival would undoubtedly signify the change of tide under the Friedkins, but it remains to be seen whether the new owners can pull a rabbit out of the hat.

Bolstering the attack should be one of the priorities for TFG in the coming weeks.
