The compromise Everton must make as Barcelona open to Hector Fort transfer

Everton have been set the conditions to conclude a deal with Barcelona for Hector Fort.

The Toffees remain in desperate need for a new right-back ahead of the summer transfer window closing in two weeks' time.

Fort is one of many names to have been linked with Everton over the past few months.

Despite being aged just 20, Fort has already made 38 LaLiga appearances, including 24 for Barcelona.

However, the Catalan giants are open to a sale for Fort this window if their price tag is met.

But any deal will come with a compromise as a new update is shared from Spain.

How much must Everton pay for Hector Fort?

Barcelona are eager to sell Fort sooner rather than later.

He spent last season on loan with Elche, who are eager to land the young defender permanently.

As per Sport, Fort's departure "continues to escalate" at Camp Nou, with the teenager accepting his future lies elsewhere.

Fort impressed at Elche last season, but he is not in Hansi Flick's plans going forward at Barcelona.

Everton are credited with an interest in Fort, as are Serie A heavyweights Inter Milan.

However, Inter's interest is said to have faded as they close in on the signing of Djed Spence from Tottenham Hotspur.

Borussia Dortmund appear to be Everton's biggest rivals to the Spain Under-20s international's signature.

The report adds that a fee of between £12.8million and £17.10m will be enough to conclude a deal, but Barcelona intend to include a clause.

The Barcelona clause Everton would have to accept

Barca are wary of letting an exciting talent move on to thrive elsewhere.

That is why they intend to include a clause in any deal that would see them retain half the rights to Fort.

That is not something English clubs usually deal with, and effectively means any further sale from Everton would then be complicated.

But if that is the price worth paying for a gem hailed as "exceptional" by ex-Barca boss Xavi, then so be it.
