Thierno Barry can realise 'dream' as RB Leipzig make Everton transfer approach
Thierno Barry may be keen on a move to RB Leipzig as they can offer what Everton can't.
The Frenchman only signed for the Toffees last summer in a £34million move from Villarreal.
He came in as a highly anticipated addition after 15 goal involvements in his debut campaign in LaLiga.
Things haven't quite worked out at Hill Dickinson Stadium despite his eight Premier League goals.
His minutes were significantly reduced towards the end of the season and that could now open the door to an exit.
Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig have showcased an interest in his signature in a deal that could prove to be perfect for Barry.
RB Leipzig are interested in signing Thierno Barry from Everton
Even with off-field antics and some poor performances in L3, a step up could now be possible.
Falling upwards is often a thing in football and the striker could be set to do exactly that.
The Times reported on Thursday that RB Leipzig have made an approach to Everton for the forward.
The Toffees want to recoup the full £34m they spent on the Villarreal man last summer if they were to sell him this summer.
That could see a profit secured on the books at Hill Dickinson Stadium after just one season which obviously could suit them well.
It could also be a perfect situation for Barry as he looks to achieve a career dream for the first time.
Barry would achieve Champions League dream with RB Leipzig move
The German outfit are coming off the back of a positive campaign where they achieved a third place finish.
It is near impossible to knock Bayern Munich off their perch, so Champions League qualification is still an achievement in the Bundesliga.
They will now feature in Europe's elite competition next season after missing out last time around.
Barry could come in and feature for them on the continent in a dream that he has previously discussed publicly.
In a press conference back in April 2025, the Frenchman said: "For me, it's a dream to be able to play in the Champions League, especially for someone like me who came to professional football, you could say, a little late.
"Obviously thinking that I can play in the Champions League next year is a dream. All the players I've admired have played, so for me it's a dream to be able to play it someday."
A move to the Red Bull Arena could unlock that dream after missing out on it with Villarreal last year.
As long as the transfer fee suits Everton, they could allow him to take a chance to feature in the Champions League for the first time.
