Three midfielders Everton could sign after Idrissa Gueye exit confirmed

Everton will likely be back in the market for a midfielder after Idrissa Gueye's exit.

The midfielder featured 22 times in the Premier League last season, a reduced role given his advanced age.

David Moyes' side have already signed Hayden Hackney, but the Senegal star's departure means that they made need another player in the engine room.

Everton could revive Mandela Keita pursuit shortly

The Blues have been heavily linked with Parma midfielder Mandela Keita.

Sky Sports Italy reported in June that the Toffees had made contact with the 24-year-old's entourage.

It also stated that they had engaged in talks with the Italian club over a move.

Keita's availability would make him a better option than Gueye, and his numbers look better too.

He completed 88.4 per cent of his passes to the Senegalese ace's 87.3 per cent ratio, and he was also better defensively, per Fotmob data.

The one-cap Belgium international won 62.4 per cent of ground duels and 59.4 per cent in the air, compared to 56 per cent and 52 per cent for Gueye.

Pape Gueye could be perfect replacement at Everton

Another midfielder who is understood to be on the Merseysiders' radar is Pape Gueye.

A report from Africa Foot earlier this month claimed that they had agreed a £24million fee for the 27-year-old, with an additional £4m in add-ons.

However, that does not seem to be the case as surely a transfer would have been completed by now if that was the case.

There is clearly interest there, though, and it makes perfect sense as he is a very capable replacement.

In 30 La Liga matches, he averaged 1.68 tackles, 4.66 recoveries and 2.48 clearances on a per 90 minutes basis.

In terms of duels, he won 58.3 per cent on the ground and 55.8 per cent in the air.

Everton could accelerate Ngal’ayel Mukau transfer

The Blues are reported to have kept tabs on Lille star Ngal’ayel Mukau.

Turkish outfit Ajansspor reported earlier this month that the 21-year-old is a target for Moyes' side.

He completed 87.2 per cent of his pass, and averaged 1.70 tackles, 3.92 recoveries and 0.47 clearances.

In terms of duels, he won 46.7 per cent on the ground and 33.3 per cent in the air.
