Blackburn Rovers are attempting to boost their coaching staff with the ambitious hire of Alan Fettis from Everton.

The Toffees are looking ahead to the new Premier League campaign knowing that they have to improve.

Hayden Hackney and Tyrique George have come in as the first two signings to add to David Moyes' squad.

That is a positive start to the summer, but with potentially limited funds, the Toffees have to be clever with spending.

There is also going to be a need to rely on academy talent more regularly, especially after the emergence of Harrison Armstrong.

That won't be helped if other sides poach their staff, but Blackburn seem to be struggling in their efforts to do exactly that.

The Blues have already overseen changes this summer as they look ahead to the new campaign.

Alterations have been secured in the academy set-up, but there may be more in the pipeline.

That comes after Alan Nixon reported via Patreon on Sunday that Blackburn are looking at academy coach, Fettis.

Rovers and Mowbray want the 55-year-old to fill their vacant goalkeeping coach role, but it currently looks unlikely.

The finances on offer may not be enough to tempt him to Ewood Park.

That will be music to the ears of Moyes, especially after their latest academy hires at Finch Farm.

Everton have already added to their academy staff

Fettis may be linked with an exit, but the Toffees will be hopeful that he will stick around.

That will largely be due to the new-look coaching staff after the additions of Dave Hughes and Matthew Taylor.

Hughes has taken up a role as Head of Academy Player Development and Taylor is the new under-18 head coach.

Both have previously worked for Manchester United and have experience working with top youth talent.

Hughes alone managed Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo with the Red Devils before they both became first-team regulars at Old Trafford.

That should serve the Toffees well, especially if they can keep hold of Fettis and build towards the future at Finch Farm.
