Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly closing in on sealing a deal with Luis Diaz after he agreed a deal to join Everton in the summer.

According to The Daily Star, they're willing to pay up to £46million for the 25-year-old FC Porto attacker.

His move to Goodison Park collapsed after an eleventh-hour change of heart from the Portuguese side which saw him staying put at the Estadio do Dragao.

Let him go

He appeared to be well within Everton's price range in the summer and there was a genuine feeling that the move could get over the line.

James Rodriguez was on his way out and was included in a potential deal with the Colombian attacker from Porto.

He surely would have preferred a move to a Champions League club rather than somewhere in the Middle East.

Diaz was also believed to be keen on joining Everton and it would've worked out pretty well for all parties.

He has been labelled “excellent” by his international teammate Juan Cuadrado [Daily Mail], and would've been a fantastic fit for Rafa Benitez's side.

Should he have joined in the summer, the Spaniard would probably have still been in a job as Diaz guarantees you goals and will be a good addition for Spurs.
