Everton's hunt for a right-back has been their saga of the window, with Brooke Norton-Cuffy once again back on the agenda.

Alistair Johnston had looked to emerge as the Toffees' solution to a position that has long been a problem.

However, after differences in price tag with Celtic, those talks have seen Everton take a step back.

Stints at right-back from both Jake O'Brien and Merlin Rohl are far from what David Moyes' side needs at the moment.

Getting a right-back is a priority but the Toffees have struggled to get one over the line.

Now, it seems they are returning for previous targets in order to get deals over the line.

The topic of Norton-Cuffy's future is once again emerging in the Italian press.

Everton were first linked with Norton-Cuffy back in January, but have since moved onto other targets.

But Tuttomercato have now shared the latest on the Englishman, with Everton mentioned in the new report.

The outlet shares the right-back's exit is "one to keep an eye on" this summer, with his future still very much up in the air.

Both Everton and Hull City are named as the likely destinations should an exit be sanctioned.

The two sides are ready to offer £10.2million for the 22-year-old should Genoa reduce their £17m evaluation.

Due to that, talks are not moving forward, but as the report shares it is one to keep an eye on as things could change in the final weeks.

Why Genoa are ready to sell Norton-Cuffy

It does seem like Norton-Cuffy's time at Genoa is coming to an end, particularly after the latest decision by manager Daniele De Rossi.

As Genoa took on Deportiva A Coruna, the Englishman was not handed any minutes against the Spanish side.

Speaking after the game as relayed by Tuttomercato, De Rossi said: "There are some transfer-related matters, so we kept him rested. But he was fit and available for selection."

So, it does seem that a move could be close for Norton-Cuffy, and Everton could swoop in and finally solve their right-back problem.

At the moment, Everton are focused on signing Brennan Johnson with Dwight McNeil heading in the other direction to Crystal Palace.

Attack is also an area needing new names, with Johnson providing more pace out on the wing.

And as a player capable of playing off the right, he could potentially have a future partnership with Norton-Cuffy.
