Everton have been mooted to sign exit-bound Myles Lewis-Skelly from Arsenal.

The Toffees are awaiting their next big marquee signing in the transfer market, with new defenders now a priority.

A right-back is wanted at Hill Dickinson, though the Blues could also move for a left-sided defender as well as another new midfielder.

Lewis-Skelly offers a variety of positions that he can play in, as Arsenal look to offload the left-back this summer.

Some have been left surprised that the Gunners are willing to part ways with the 19-year-old, who has already racked up more than 70 appearances for Mikel Arteta's men.

David Moyes has already been in touch with Arteta this window, and could do so once more, with Everton possibly readying a move for Lewis-Skelly.

The Gunners are said to have offered the defender to Manchester United and Chelsea among other top-flight sides, and the Toffees could be one of them.

While discussing the news on talkSPORT this Wednesday, Gabby Agbonlahor and Alan Brazil couldn't wrap their heads around why Arsenal would want him to leave.

Agbonlahor said: "Massive mistake; it's baffling. 19 years of age, the value he's got in his future as a player. Last season he started in a Champions League final; he can play seven positions. Arsenal fans will be devastated."

Brazil also had his say: "I don't get it. It doesn't make sense. He's 19, he's the future of the club. Don't go."

Everton will be excited by these comments, as they could land themselves a top-class youngster who already has experience playing for England and in big tournaments.

But how much could he cost?

The Daily Mail have offered an update on Lewis-Skelly, revealing why the Gunners are inclined to part ways with the versatile full-back.

It's said that the teenagers possible exit is due to key factors, including how Arsenal need to stay compliant with UEFA spending rules and their ability to further strengthen their own squad.

With that said, a permanent exit seems more likely.

A fee of £45million has been suggested, but those who have knowledge of the situation believe it would take a considerably higher offer to make the Gunners sell their academy product.

With the way transfers are these days, there's no reason why Everton couldn't strike an agreement for less than £50m before add-ons, especially with buy-back and sell-on clauses also in a lot of transfer agreements now.

But whether David Moyes sees the player as worthy of the price tag is another conversation.
