Everton's dire need for a new right-back could see them move for Burnley veteran Kyle Walker this summer.

The Toffees' long-term problem position is still causing issues with the new Premier League campaign fast on the horizon.

Everton have had problems at right-back for some time, with Jake O'Brien largely utilised out of position last term.

Long-serving captain Seamus Coleman has now departed, Nathan Patterson is out of favour, and James Garner - who has filled in there in the past - is struggling with injury.

There is fast becoming a desperation for Everton to fill the void, with no breakthrough made yet to find a solution.

David Moyes may now turn to an experienced head as a shorter-term solution in the form of former England international Walker.

Everton have been linked with a number of right-backs throughout the window.

The Toffees are thought to have assigned a sizeable budget to bring one in this summer, but have not yet been able to identify an option for a price they think is reasonable.

As such, talkSPORT has reported that 36-year-old Walker, who has 96 England caps to his name, is in line for a "shock" move to Hill Dickinson Stadium,

Walker still has 12 months to run on his deal at Burnley, who were relegated from the Premier League last season.

Walker, who was once described as "unbelievable" by Sky Sports pundit and former England defender Gary Neville, won six Premier League titles and the Champions League among a plethora of options with Manchester City.

He could provide Moyes with a good option in the short term while Everton search for a long-term prospect if one cannot be found this summer.

If there is a right-back available on the market this summer, then the likelihood is that Everton have been linked to them,

Celtic's Alistair Johnston had been a priority target, but the teams are too far apart in their valuation of the Canada international as things stand.

West Ham United's Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been named throughout the window, but his wage demands are expected to make that deal too difficult to do.

Benfica's Amar Dedic is also thought to be on Everton'a radar, but Newcastle United are said to be leading that race.

And Tottenham Hotspur's Djed Spence is said to be keen on a move to Serie A giants Inter Milan as opposed to switching to Hill Dickinson Stadium.
