Everton might not yet be out of the running to sign Chelsea striker Liam Delap this summer.

The 23-year-old forward is out of favour at Stamford Bridge, with Joao Pedro and now Danny Welbeck ahead of him in the pecking order.

Signed just a year ago from Ipswich Town, Delap endured a difficult maiden campaign at Stamford Bridge.

Indeed, Delap managed just one Premier League goal last term, and is looking for more regular starts this coming campaign.

Everton have been linked with a move for Delap throughout the window, though there are several teams being credited with an interest.

The Toffees could still get a deal done, though it will require an element of patience if they are to bring him to Hill Dickinson Stadium.

When might Chelsea allow Liam Delap to join Everton?

It is have been thought for some time that David Moyes would like an upgade on his current striker options at Everton.

Beto is admired for his workrate and commitment when leading the line, but lacks the prolific edge to be a top-class striker in the Premier League.

Thierno Barry has enjoyed a pretty good pre-season, but he has plenty of work to do to prove he can be a consistent threat in England's top flight.

According to the Daily Mail, Delap - once called "fearless" by BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton - is still out of Everton's price range for a permanent deal, with Chelsea said to be wanting £55million to sell.

However, the report adds that Chelsea may allow Delap to join Everton on loan later in the summer if no other suitors pounce for his signature.

Moreover, Moyes is said to have made a strong impression on Delap when he tried to sign him from Ipswich prior to his move to Chelsea.

So, all hope might not be lost in the race for Delap, but Everton are requiring reinforcements in several areas this summer.

What else do Everton need this transfer window?

The Toffees have done some work to reinforce their squad during the transfer window.

Hayden Hackney, Christian Norgaard, and Brennan Johnson have all arrived, while Merlin George and Tyrique George completed full transfers after their loan spells last season.

Moyes still badly needs reinforcement, though, and the most pressing concern is definitely still at right-back, an area that has been in need of upgrading for some time.

More midfield cover might yet be needed, too, with Idrissa Gueye having left and Tim Iroegbunam potentially joining Hull City.

And another wide option might be on Moyes' wish list, though they might wait to see if there's a chance to bring Jack Grealish back to the club.
