Why David Moyes will reignite Everton transfer talk as Daniel Munoz footage emerges
David Moyes appears to have been working his charm on Everton-linked Daniel Munoz.
Transfer talk was put to one side on Saturday afternoon, as Everton opened their 2026-27 Premier League season against Crystal Palace.
Moyes' men ran out 2-0 winners over Pierre Sage's side, in what was the perfect start to the new campaign at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
With a gap now until Everton's League Cup clash with Preston on Wednesday, focus will now shift back to the transfer market.
The acquisition of a new right-back remains the Toffees' glaring transfer need before the 1 September deadline.
Palace star Munoz has been a name strongly touted to Everton this summer, but a move for him had appeared to have gone cold.
What did David Moyes and Daniel Munoz do at full-time in Everton vs Crystal Palace?
Finding the right kind of player to solve their right-back problem is vital for Everton, as they won't want to sign any old player just for the sake of it.
Moyes seldom deviates from his back four approach, and it's been reported that Everton are looking for a traditional full-back rather than a wing-back.
Given Munoz comes under the profile of the latter, the chances of Everton signing the Colombian international has been played down recently.
But perhaps prepare yourself to see transfer speculation over the Palace defender start up once again, and that's thanks to both Moyes and Munoz.
Captured in video footage shared to TikTok by a user named GroundHopDay, Moyes and Munoz can bee seen embracing at the full-time whistle on Saturday.
The two are witnessed shaking hands and putting their arms around one another, and words are clearly exchanged in a roughly 10-second encounter.
So, will Munoz' performance against Everton have Moyes desperate for his Toffees transfer chiefs to strike a deal before the deadline?
Why Everton may wish to avoid Munoz deal on Saturday's evidence
Having been with Crystal Palace since January 2024, Munoz has now established himself as a quality defender at Premier League level.
The 30-year-old has turned out 109 times for the Eagles in all competitions, scoring 11 goals and providing 15 assists.
But, he was far from at his best at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday, and was replaced after 55 minutes.
As per FotMob, he committed one error leading to a goal, registered an 81 per cent pass success rate and created zero chances.
He also missed one big chance, was accurate with just one of his three long ball attempts and failed to attempt a single cross into the box.
Defensively, Munoz won just the one tackle, made one interception, one recovery, won one of his three ground duels and committed one foul.
So, it certainly wasn't the type of display that is likely to have swayed Everton's transfer minds, but his and Moyes' interaction is certainly very interesting...
