Why Everton already know what's needed as Jens Petter Hauge back on transfer radar

Everton know Jens Petter Hauge is there for the taking this summer, but only on one condition.

The Norway international, who was part of his country's recent World Cup squad, was touted as an Everton target earlier this year.

Everton are not alone in liking Petter Hague, however, as the likes of Leeds United and Hull City have also been linked.

Goodison News exclusively revealed last month how Everton would be keeping a close eye on Petter Hague at the World Cup.

That global showpiece is now over and a fresh update has emerged on the 26-year-old's future at Bodo/Glimt.

And Everton have learned that a deal has not been entirely ruled out by his Norwegian club.

Petter Hague scored eight goals and assisted a further four in 28 Norwegian top-flight games last season.

Those figures do not exactly jump off the page when you consider the level, but the Bodo native is a left-winger by trade, rather than a striker.

Beyond his domestic form, he truly caught the eye in last season's Champions League.

Petter Hauge scored six times, while assisting two more, in 12 appearances as Bodo/Glimt made a serious impact on the competition.

Now, amid fresh reports linking Petter Hauge with Everton, Sporten reported on Wednesday that Bodo/Glimt are in control of the situation.

While "something could happen" in terms of an exit this window, it would take a "significant sum" for Bodo/Glimt to let the winger leave.

This is due to Petter Hauge still having plenty of time to run on his contract, plus the fact they are in no real need to sell.

So is Petter Hague really worth Everton still pursuing?

What Petter Hague would bring to Everton

Anyone who watched the Champions League last season would have seen Petter Hague's quality up close.

He scored some important goals, and some eye-catching goals, for surprise package Bodo/Glimt.

While he is versatile, it is out on the left-hand side of attack he has played most often.

Petter Hague was described as an attacker with "X-Factor" by Bodo director Havard Sakariassen.

David Moyes will take what he can get right now, and another goalscoring wide player would certainly be particularly welcome.

But with a "significant" fee needed, whatever that may be, Everton's interests are surely better served elsewhere.
